Barbara Ann Stephens, 57, passed away on Jan. 15, 2024 at Wesley Hospital in Hattiesburg. The funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church in Vossburg. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery. Young's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A former sheriff was arrested after a drunk-driving crash in the county where he was the top law enforcement officer just a few months ago. Jody Ashley, 56, was charged with DUI-first offense and reckless driving by Waynesboro police after having a wreck on a dead-end street in that city just before 5 p.m. Saturday, according to the incident report.
