ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday in the killing of a nursing student whose body was found on the University of Georgia campus, and police said he apparently did not know the victim, he acted alone and there was no further threat to the university community.
The suspect, identified as Athens resident Jose Antonio Ibarra, was taken into custody for the death of 22-year-old Laken Hope Riley, police said.

A Forrest County woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon in southwest Jones County, the Jones County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Cynthia Townsend, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2017 Jeep Wrangler she was driving crashed into a tree off Old Progress Road just before 4:30 p.m.
It appeared that the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, but when the driver attempted to pull back on the roadway, over-corrected and caused the vehicle to spin in the roadway, according to the JCSD report.
